Cookie Policy
Last updated: June 28, 2026
This Cookie Policy explains how upthehill.net uses cookies and similar local-storage technologies. We keep this to a minimum — the Site uses only essential local storage and does not run advertising or analytics trackers.
01What are cookies & local storage?
Cookies are small text files a website can store in your browser. “Local storage” is a related technology that keeps small pieces of data on your device. Both can be used to remember preferences or, in other contexts, to track activity across sites. We use them only for the essential purposes described below. Because these are strictly necessary, no opt-in consent banner is legally required for them to function.
02Storage we use
| Name | Purpose | Type | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
uth_age_ok | Remembers that you confirmed you are 21+ so the age gate doesn’t reappear. | Essential · first-party local storage | Until cleared |
uth_cookie_ack | Remembers that you dismissed the cookie notice. | Essential · first-party local storage | Until cleared |
yt-remote-* | Set by an embedded YouTube player (privacy mode) to manage playback. Only relevant on pages with video. | Third-party (Google/YouTube) | Session – ~1 year |
We do not use Google Analytics, advertising pixels, or third-party marketing/tracking technologies on this Site.
03Embedded YouTube video
Videos are embedded via YouTube’s privacy-enhanced domain (youtube-nocookie.com). Even in this mode, when a player loads, YouTube may write a device identifier to your browser’s local storage (for example, yt-remote-device-id) and Google may receive your IP address; additional data may be processed if you play a video. This is governed by Google’s policies: Google Cookies and Google Privacy Policy.
04Do Not Sell or Share · GPC
We do not sell or share your personal information, and we do not use cookies for cross-context behavioral advertising. Because of that, there is nothing for a Global Privacy Control (GPC) or “Do Not Track” signal to opt you out of. See our Privacy Policy for your California privacy rights.
05How to control storage
Because we only use essential local storage, no consent is required for it to function. You can still clear or block this data at any time:
- Clear your browser’s site data / local storage for upthehill.net.
- Use your browser settings or private/incognito mode to limit storage.
Clearing the age-verification value simply means the age gate will ask you to confirm again on your next visit.
06Changes & contact
If we ever introduce analytics or other non-essential technologies, we will update this policy and provide an appropriate consent mechanism before they are used.
